A Summer of Learning
There's something about returning from vacation that leaves you invigorated and ready to start learning again. Maybe it's the mountain air. Maybe it's time just sitting on a train, plotting about the future. Maybe I just miss being in school. Whatever it is, I'm in my learning girl era.
In June, I finally took a painting course at the Grand Central Atelier (GCA). It's amazing what a single foundational course taught by a professional will teach you after a lifetime of being self-taught.
This July, I am currently taking a Calc I course. I've already take Calc 1A through MITx, but waiting around for Calc 1B to become available left me impatient, so I'm taking Calc 1 through the UCSD Extended Studies school. At the same time, I am finally taking a writing course-- Science Fiction and Fantasy I at Gotham Writers. I'm hoping this will enable me to write an even stronger second draft of my fantasy novel.
In August, I will be taking a drawing course at the GCA.
In October, I plan to take a foundational Painting Course through the Florence Classical Arts Academy. I've already been accepted into the Mastery program, it's just a matter of committing to it.
Lastly, I need to figure out what my learning path to Data Science will be. I am trained in research methods, and I can program in both Python and R, so a foundational bootcamp or course would be redundant. I've decided that instead of my obsession with going back to school, I'll develop this portfolio instead! So stay tuned for more.
