Andy the Researcher
About Me
My name is Andy Chan (she/her/they/them). I am a researcher, an artist, a (hopeful) author, and a Tolkien nerd. I am currently the Research Manager at Coqual, a nonprofit thinktank studying DEI in corporations. I graduated from Teachers College, Columbia University with an M.A. in Clinical Psychology and from New York University with a B.S. in Applied Psychology.
My passion is in applying research to issues related to social justice and healing. I was a research assistant on a sex positive and/or justice-oriented research teams in Columbia University and New York University. In pursuing this passion for justice in sex research, I have studied ways the mainstream can learn from alternative sexual communities to improve consent behaviors and attitudes. I was the Vice President, Treasurer, and Social Media manager for Conversio Virium, a kink education group at Columbia University, and I currently chair the BDSM/kink Special Interest Group at the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality.
